Searching for a new pop up gazebo and seeing too many seemingly similar options?
It is hard to find another market where product prices vary from 60 EUR to 2000 EUR and most of the products are described as “heavy duty”, “Pro” or “Lux”.
So it is time to clear some myths and help You to find the best pop up gazebo.
So why some pop up gazebo cost 100 EUR while other costs up to 2000 EUR?
Pop up gazebo consists of 2 main parts- frame and roof with walls. 100 Eur (with VAT) gazebo will have a really thin metal frame in square form. Usually no more than 20x20mm.
Secondly, roof and walls will be made of plastic or 200D- 300D (density) polyester with PVC layer.
It means that the pop up gazebo frame won’t take any stronger winds, textile will tear in roof corners. It will be okay if needed for no more than 2-3 times.
Next price group 150- 350 EUR (with VAT)
will be approximately the same with some enhancements in frame legs size and textile density. Still, these gazebos won’t be a safe shelter against strong winds and rain.
On the roof, rain might form “water pockets” which will make roof lose in a few times.
There is a high possibility for the frame to deform or even break if put up in stronger winds.
The trickiest one 350- 500 EUR (with VAT) category.
You might find moderate quality pop up gazebo, but to do this You have to make sure about the following things:
- don’t buy an aluminum frame in this price category.
- Search for a durable steel frame, in the best case in the hexagonal form
- Pay attention to the textile. Most popular one- 300D with PVC cover is not one I would recommend. Why? The most popular problem are tears in the roof and it is hard to clean.
To sum up this category- You can find some good deals at offseason when discounted but don’t buy an aluminum frame and be aware of 300D polyester with PVC cover.
It gets better from now on.
In 500 – 700 EUR (with VAT) category
You can find some really good quality heavy duty gazebo. How to find one? Look for:
- hexagonal form steel frame,
- At least 450 – 500D polyester with PU cover,
- Quite serious ground stakes and roof tensioning system.
Extras in this class which indicates safe to buy pop up gazebo:
- available spare parts.
Still be cautious from aluminum frames. Sellers sell them as lightweight and long-lasting, but the hard truth is that aluminum is really weak against deformations in heavy usage.
700- 1000 EUR (with VAT) category
is the one where You might start to consider aluminum as a material for the frame. Still, don’t know why You would consider, but if You wish so.. 🙂 At this price warranty is a must.
If a product has no warranty then check out the company background or technical specification. Mostly long lasting heavy duty gazebos.
1000- 2000 EUR (with VAT)
mostly German-made pop up gazebos. Have to be careful with technical specification. Quite common thing is that price is high because of seller brand or origin of manufacture.
So there is a possibility that You will buy the same quality gazebo as the 530 EUR one ( Nordtent pop up gazebo ) but You will pay for the big brand.
Of course, for this price, it is quite secure purchase with all the needed accessories (in most cases), but I would say a little overpriced.
